Iranian ‘The Rotation’ vying at Russian festival

The 2020 VGIK Int’l filmfest in Russia is hosting Iranian animation ‘The Rotation’.

Iranian short animation ‘The Rotation’ has been competing at the 40th edition of the VGIK International Student Festival in Russia.

Directed and produced by Hazhir Asadi, the 7-minute animation shows two tribes that engage in a tug-of-war to possess the sun and moon.

Neither side can defeat the other. Their conflict wreaks havoc on the earth’s climate.

An eventual ceasefire brings temporary stability and harmony until unexpected events renew the cycle of conflict and destruction.

It is a film about the futility of war and the folly of human efforts to dominate nature.

‘The Rotation’ has so far gone on screen at a number of global events, including the Animasyros Festival in Greece and the Girona Film Festival in Spain.

The Russian VGIK festival hosts student films from around the world. The festival aims to present films that show future cinema from the future filmmakers’ point of view.

The 2020 edition of the event started today and will end on November 20.
